Mascara review: Essence All eyes on me

Most of my friends aren't really interested in make-up, so I was pretty surprised when I heard one of my friends rave about Essence mascara a little while back. We were standing in the middle of a drugstore when she suddenly pointed at all of the different mascaras from Essence and told me that they were the BEST out there. I was actually looking for a new budget-proof mascara, so I decided to look at what they had to offer. I was looking for a black mascara that would help me to curl my lashes, so eventually I picked the 'All eyes on me' mascara for 1,99 Euro. My friend nodded with approval and told me that she has been using Essence mascaras for as long as she can remember and that they lasted like a year or so. (Errr...yeah, did I mention that she isn't very interested in make-up? As far as I know, mascara only lasts three to six months...). Anyway, let's continue with the review! :P

I picked 01 Soft black, but they also have a brown, blue and green version ;)

So this one promises extra volume, length, curl, thickness and separation? We'll see!

The brush is not too small and not too big, the perfect size to coat all the lashes evenly.Let's take a look at some 'before and after' pictures below!

My natural lashes are pretty invisible, so the black colour does help to make them more noticeable. The mascara also slightly curls the lashes (I didn't use an eyelash curler). It's definitely a step in the right direction, but unfortunately I can't say that the mascara gives me a 'wow effect'.

However, it does make my lashes look a lot longer! If you're looking for length, this mascara would be worth a try.

Here you can see the slight curling effect.

And a full face picture to show you what the mascara looks like from a distance (left eye: mascara, right eye: no mascara)

I've been using this mascara for a couple of weeks now, and I quite like it. It may not be the best mascara I've seen so far but I do think that it gives me a very nice 'my lashes but better' look. It's also very easy to remove and doesn't make my lashes feel hard. Oh, and no flakes or smudges during the day! It doesn't claim to be waterproof, but I've been wearing this mascara during rainy days and it stayed in place perfectly. I wouldn't recommend this if you're looking for something dramatic, but if you want a nice & subtle mascara you might like this one a lot!

What is your favourite mascara?
