Victoria Jackson Eyeshadow sticks
It's time for my first Victoria Jackson review! I loved the look of the Eye gems Eyeshadow enhancers (or just eyeshadow sticks), so I wanted to show them first. Because of the mixed reviews I was a bit skeptical, and I must say that the company makes a bit of a 'fake' impression on me. Salespeople claim that it's 'MAC quality', the packaging looks a bit too fancy to my liking (as if they're trying to make bad products look better) and they use those marketing lines as 'dermatologist tested' without telling you whether it had a positive or negative outcome. And even if the results are good, it's still not a guarantee that this won't break you out.
This is what I meant with the fancy packaging, when you open the box there's a black case inside and inside of that case you'll find the eyeshadow sticks. Uhm...Why? A case like that isn't very practical and it doesn't even look cute.
The eyeshadow sticks look nice and definitely not cheap, but they're pretty much identical (they just have a name sticker on the bottom). Not really ideal, but it's only a minor downside.
I still think that they could have worked with coloured labels or something, but alright, here are the names/colours. They are very nice and basic shades: white, champagne and black.
What I really like, is that they're creamy eyeshadow sticks in a twist-up tube so you don't need a sharpener. You can easily throw these in your make-up bag as well (after you burn that horrible black case).
The colour payoff is nice, white and champagne are gorgeous shimmering highlight colours! If you apply them with a light hand they just melt into your skin and leave a gorgeous glow behind.
I was in a rush this morning so I decided to give these sticks a try. I have white as an inner corner/under the eyebrow highlight, Champagne all over the eyelid and I used the black one to make a bit of a smudgy line along the upper and lower lash line. In stead of eyeshadow sticks, I like these a lot more as highlighter sticks. They give the eyes a nice subtle shimmer and they last for hours.Do I like them? Yes, but I'd only really recommend them if you're a fan of highlighters because if you are going to use them as an eyeshadow replacement, they will slightly start to crease at the end of the day = not pretty. I'm in love with the white and the champagne coloured sticks though, they are truly stunning and light up my eyes!
