The Essential Eye Palette from Louise Young
Okay, you better sit tight and take a deep breath because I'm pretty sure that this review is going to make you fall in love with Louise Young Cosmetics! If you like matte and neutral eyeshadows, you will adore their Essential Eye Palette (which is currently sold out according to their website). I'm not surprised about that to be honest, I've had my eyes on this as soon as the Pixiwoo sisters showed it on their YouTube channel!
The palette case is matte and looks very sleek. This palette costs 30 pounds on their website, but for that amount of money you get a nice palette and great service. Everything was securely packaged and they even added their top selling brush, a LY38 Tapered Shadow brush, to the package as a gift.
On the back of the palette you can find the names of all the colours (Ting, Maowi, Pom Pom, Black Bear and Sislet). You can also use these eyeshadows as eyeliner or use them on your brows. I like that! Even when I'm in a rush, filling in my eyebrows and using a bit of black eyeliner to make my eyes look bigger is something I never skip.
Inside the palette you can find a small eyeshadow brush, a mirror and 5 gorgeous colours. Ting is a beige colour, Maowi is a nice taupe, Pom Pom is a bit of a medium/chocolate brown, Black Bear is a nice basic black and Sislet is a Terracotta shade.
The swatches above are dry, with no primer or base underneath. Because this is a pretty expensive palette I wanted to show the true potential of the colours inside. As you can see, the pigmentation of the first two colours is a bit avarage, but the others are really lovely. Especially Sislet is gorgeously pigmented! I also like that Pom Pom doesn't have some weird reddish undertone like most of the chocolate brown shades I own. Black Bear barely causes any fallout (just like the other shades), another thing I really like!
The brush inside is on the small side but great if you want to add some colour in the crease or on the lower lashline. The other brush is also very nice, it's soft and perfect to blend or add colours in the crease. I have sensitive skin, but these brushes are very gentle to work with.I know that 30 pounds is a lot of money for a palette, but in my opinion this palette is worth it. The shades are perfect for everyday use and Pom Pom is a great shade for my brows. I've always lined my eyes with black eyeshadow (or used it to set my gelliner) because it gives me a softer look, Black Bear is perfect for that. Because the colours are so versatile, I think that this palette is a great addition to any make-up collection!
