How to use Fimo Canes: Sweet VS. Bad nail tutorial
So today I'm going to show two things: How I cut the Fimo Canes (the ones I showed everyone in an earlier post here) and the first 'design' I came up with. My sister joined the fun as usual, so in the end we had two very different designs. Mine is inspired by all sweet and cute things and hers by (hold yourself tight) twilight...but let's get started!
So I use 3 things: tweezers, a sharp knife and an old picture frame (you want the glass part to cut on). You can use different things, but most important are the sharp knife and a flat, hard surface to work on. I only use the tweezers because I'm super clumsy and would like to keep my fingers intact :P
I've watched a couple of videos on YouTube to get an idea how to cut the canes, but in the end I just did it my own way. Take a cane you don't like that much to practice with, and after a few slices you will find a way that works for you.
The canes won't deform that easily (they are pretty much like rubber) and eventually you'll pick up a rhythm which makes it really fun to do.Now it's time to get a little creative!
Bad or Sweet, we start out with a base coat.
For the sweet version, go for a nice pink shade (this just reminds me of strawberry icecream, but you could go for an other light shade as well, like a yellow or brown colour). If you want to go dark, pick a nice black.
Then it's time for some glitter, now the sweet girls have some sugar and the bad girls can honour sparkling vampires ;)
This is an extra step for the Sweeties, I needed a stick for my Lollipop so I just used a sticker. If you have one, you could use a nail art pen as well. (Even paper would work).
Now you can grab your topcoat and pick the slices of Fimo you want to use, I suggest doing one nail at the time because you need to work fast. (Especially if you use a fast drying topcoat like me).
Next, you apply your topcoat and place the Fimo Canes onto your nails. Press them a little so they'll stick to your nail as best as they can.
To give your nails extra protection, apply a layer of topcoat on top of everything. This should be enough to secure the slices of Fimo Canes. I think I did my nails 8-9 hours ago and everything is still in place :)Here are a couple more pictures of my design:

Fun, easy and definitely cute! I really like playing around with Fimo Canes. I'm not really good with stamping or painting my nails perfectly, so this is great if you just want something that looks awesome but takes little effort. It's also super cheap, like I told everyone in my other post about these canes ;)I hope this was fun to read! I'm going on a little trip tomorrow so I wanted to keep everyone busy :P I'm going to shop and dazzle everyone with my nails, but I'll be back on Sunday :)
