Mini haul and Essie VS Hema, who wins?

Okay, you can ignore the chocolate :P I wanted to share those other 3 things most, my new 24h Super Stay foundation from Maybelline, a matte topcoat from Hema and a new brush to apply the foundation :) I'm super excited about the foundation and I've been after a topcoat for a while now (to see a comparison with Essie you can scroll down). For the ladies who want to hear about something I really need to rant about...keep on reading :P

*Rant* So I was standing in a long line of people to pay for my foundation and when it was finally my turn I wanted to use the card from my bank to pay. I use it there all the time if I don't have enough money in my purse, and today was one of those days. The girl behind the counter -some snobby looking monster with way too much make-up- waited for me to type my password and almost smiled when that thing started to beep. 'The card is not valid, pay some other way' it said. I tried it again and again there was a beep. Without offering me to try their other one she looked at me as if I was some sort of dirty looking junkie and told me that I didn't have enough money on that card. I told her that it was impossible, there was enough on there to buy a whole box of spare foundation if I wanted to. But in stead of acknowledging that it might be the machines fault, she loudly asked me to go to the bank myself to get money and that she would wait with the foundation for my return. Now the bank wasn't close, it was super hot outside as well so I was definitely not happy. At the bank the lowest I could get was 50 Euro, way too much for a foundation around 14 Euro, so that made me angry as well. When I finally returned I was ready to give that rude girl a piece of my mind, but of course that oh so kind lady was gone and left my foundation between some random stuff on the counter. The line was also super long again, so yeah, it was not a great memory for my life as a beauty blogger :P Thankfully some other girl rushed to get me my foundation, she heard everything before and could probably guess I was almost going to just give up on getting it. Anyways, I am not going to shop there again anytime soon. I'm not sure if I mentioned it on my blog but that same store suspected me of stealing things before when I was swatching lipsticks on my hand to find my favourite colour. That shop is on it's way to get boycotted :P *End of my Rant*

I'm really happy to have a matte top coat right now, I got my mum the one from Essie a couple of weeks ago because she loves the matte finish but it was very expensive so I didn't feel like buying one for myself. I was kind of curious which one would work best though, so I decided to borrow my mum's and compare the two!

Here are the two top coats, Essie: matte about you and Hema: top coat matt :)

Both are very simple looking, Essie is slightly bigger (15 ml) than Hema (11 ml). Matte about you costs 15 euro (around 18 dollars) and Top coat matt is 2,50 euro (around 3 dollars). You can find it cheaper of course, I got the Essie one during a 50% off sale (without that I wouldn't have bought it) :P

The brushes are also pretty different. The one above is the Essie brush and below we have the Hema one. I personally love the big Hema brush a lot, but if you prefer a smaller brush Matte about you might be a better choice :)

Now, let's compare the results! I used one of my favourite nail polishes for this task. Here we have 'Shocking Pink' from BarryM:

A hot & shiny pink :P I wonder how it looks after the top coats are done with it...

Me, my sister and my mum couldn't see a difference. They both apply nicely, dry fast and give nice results. I can't say anything about how they'll last yet but at first sight they look identical. Here's a close-up:

So unless the nails painted with the Hema top coat will chip like crazy tomorrow, I'd recommend getting that one in stead of Matte about you (unless you're looking for a small brush or can't get your hands on a Hema one perhaps). The price difference is just something I can't ignore, you can get yourself one bottle of Matte about you or 6 bottles of Top coat matt. I have a huge weakness for cheaper products with a great quality, so I'm really happy with my Hema one :)

Did anyone notice a difference between the topcoats? And I was wondering if anyone wants to see the Maybelline foundation reviewed, if so, let me know!

Thank you girls :) I just really needed to get it off of my chest :P And I'll definitely review the foundation soon, so far it looks great but I want to make sure it doesn't cause any problems after using it for a longer period of time :)

And I was looking for a nice matte powder, so thank you for the tip Alvira! :)

Doesn't sound like that clerk had any business waiting on customers! But in the end, you got it squared away. Not that it was an easy task!

The mattes are very, very similar. And all things aside, I'd get the Hema too. :)

Hey, I did a review on matte about you too. And i realized as well, that it chips ALOT. I guess it'd negate the whole look if i were to top coat it with a clear nailpolish. I wonder how to avoid it??
